A Conversation About Moving and Obedience

M to N: "How was nursery today? Who was there?"

N: long pause, "Max wasn't there."

M: "Oh. . .yeah, Max moved." (followed by long discussion about living in another state like grandparents and flying on planes to see each other)

N: "Max moved? cause he was not obedient."

M: laughing outloud "No, he moved cause his daddy got a new job."

I guess my explanation about grandparents, different states and airplane travel didn't work. Seems like Nikolai thinks of moving more like a long timeout.

Hey Mary...that is actually really a pretty interesting insight into the mind of a toddler. I have recently found the need to consult some books re: crazy toddlers, and one of the things I read is that at this stage their world-view is extremely self-centered and it's typical for them to assume that everything in the world happens because of/for them. I wonder if that's why Nicolai thought that it had to be something that Max did to cause the move. Anyway, it's cute. Hope you guys are all doing well.

Whenever Max's name comes up, Ella says he lives at his grandma's house, and leaves it at that. I guess she's better with people moving than I am.
